Found this 1960 Lincoln that looks to be doubled. I'm using the 1960 ddo-001 as reference from variety vista. If I'm wrong on this one I really don't think my eyes work the same sorry it will not let me delete any pictures for some reason and did not mean to load them all. I hit back button.
I am not to sure about a DDO, but your coin is struck on a Defective Planchet. It look like it has some type of Lamination defect at 6:00 & 8:00 o'clock on obverse and 11: to 12: on reverse. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1960.htm
Not sure about DDO but I agree with @alurid on the lamination. It's on the rim on both sides of the coin. On the obverse the 6:00 actually looks like a small split in the planchet. Very interesting.
I first thought some kind of fissure, I am questioning the area above the A can't quite tell if it is damage or a defective planchet.
I turned the coin on the side and it gets really thin at 6 and between the 8. There is what looks like missing metal and a crack that spans that entire area but them there is also a line directly down the center all the way around the coin and another split at 11 o'clock. I'm charging phone up now to get better photos of it. It's weird because it doesn't have the normal beveled edges on sides like all other penny's . Ill repost the new photos asap
thanks. I've never really looked into it but does this error ad value ? what caused it to crack like it did or is it just an imperfection in the metal when made ?
It’s honestly outside my wheelhouse. That’s a question for @JCro57 or @paddyman98 I would personally not spend more than $5 for it raw and maybe $25 slabbed, but I’m also cheap.
were you saying this is a proof coin or that ddo-001 is a proof. I realized it wasn't #1 when I looked again
