OK, get ready to cringe (or cry, or whatever you do in these situations)

My policy is when I ask a bank for bills, I don't cherrypick. I take them all regardless of condition, ESPECIALLY the $2's. It helps to build the relationship because they know that

1. I won't complain
2. I won't waste their time if they go out of their way for me
3. I take things off their hands that would otherwise be a nuisance for years to come sitting in the vault, constantly needing to be balanced, etc....

So, in picking up $2's this past week, I have come across the following.

1. the first note is a 1976 $2 Star note from the New York district (the most star notes of all the districts) and not a low serial number either, but a Star Note none-the-less. When you see it, you will cringe (at a minimum).

2. A collage (if you can call it that) of some other abused $2 bills. I shrank the file to upload it to CT, but I think there's enough detail to see the extent of the abuse.

If anyone wants any of these, you have to let me know soon (I'm sure you will all be breaking down my door). I think I'm going to keep the star note, but the rest are going back to the Federal Reserve Bank for a date with a shredder. I have one branch that I bring all my mutilated to, but only in full straps of 100 notes. They are OK with this since they never end up with an odd amount in their vault because of me. This last batch brings me up to another full strap of $2's.

wow, I'd forgotten all about that site. I remember thumbing through that site years ago.

 

Dr. Kevorkian would have euthanized these notes a long time ago Gatzdon so don't feel to bad.
