This off center struck quarter has no reeds at all on the rim. Does this mean the collar wasn't in place when the coin was struck? It does appear slightly expanded out when lined up with a regular quarter. IMG_7335.JPG 3.JPG View attachment 860389

It may be broadstruck, as well as off center.
Broadstruck being the better error to have.

When the Blank Planchet is Struck that way, Off Center, there is no collar holding it.

Nice error. Be sure to protect it.

The reeding is applied at the time of the strike. The collar has the reeding pattern, and the force of the dies causes the planchet to expand into the sides of the collar which then leave that pattern on a coin's edge. If not aligned inside properly, no reeding or partial reeding exists.
