Tonight my son and I searched a box of cents. We found 32 1974-S cents all looking uniformly brand new. All I can guess is someone dumped a 35 year old roll into a counting machine just for the fifty cents. Just seemed strange. The same box had 27 wheats, which is a bit high for my area (east tenn).

Several months ago in a box search I turned up about a roll and a half of BU 1972 dated cents. I have gotten BU late date wheats also, so yes, people do break up rolls and spill them into the coinstar machines. I was watching a programme on the tele about the coinstar machines and they showed the Brinks coin sorting facility, I couldn't look at the pallets of boxes of pennies without thinking how many thousands of wheat cents, maybe even an Indian here and there are hiding in all those boxes.

I did some roll searching as well today. Nothing spectacular but some nice 60s and 70s.
