Hi- Is there a reference site that teaches what patterns to look for in serial numbers? I recently passed on a 52252552 because I didn't think it was collectible, but it seems like to short radar numbers together. (or am I losing my mind with this stuff?) Is there help that teaches radars, ladders and all of the variations? Thanks- Mike
well, that serial number is not a radar. i could be wrong, but terms like 'short radars' and things like that are points made up by sellers to hype an otherwise un-valuable note and to sell it at a profit. dont get me wrong, it is a cool serial, but i wouldnt consider it to be anything else then a fancy serial. again, i could be wrong
Yup, I didn't keep it since it seemed like me imagining that there was something neat there. Thanks for the replies! Mike
Thanks, RickieB. Aside from star notes and radars, what do you guys look for? I handle several hundreds in cash per day and find it kind of fun to search the numbers, but I don't know exactly what I am looking for. Thanks- Mike
Mike - on the $1 notes, i look for anything older then 1995, web-notes on 1995 and 1999 (they are on 1988A too but i auto keep all them anyway) and then i keep all stars, any radars, ladders, and anything with 3 or more leading zeros. Your really need to hit 5 or so leading zeros for the note to fetch much of a premium for it, but i still get geeked when i see 3 or 4 Plus i try to get 1 note from each district for each series
Daggar, I have yet to see 4 leading zero's at work. I keep looking, but all I find is 1-3 zeros, and I dont keep 3. at least you find them
