Odd Proof-like 1990-P Kennedy Half

As I was searching through some halves from the bank today I came across a rather odd 1990-P Kennedy Half- see photo- I would describe it as looking very proof-like- a mirrored surface and very sharp letters / motto / date.

However, the portrait of Kennedy looks 'sunken' into the coin, as if it's not raised up enough: for example, his nose appears to be 'free-floating' in the field, and the rest of the face fades out before it gets to the nose.

It doesn't look worn down much if at all, and I'm a bit baffled by it- there is no doubling to be seen; could it be a worn die? Bad engraving? Grease?

Not really sure about such things, but maybe it was struck with higher than normal pressure? Could possibly account for both the design being somewhat more sunk in than usual and also sharper than is normal for a business strike. Well let others try to diagnose it better, but that is my best guess.
