I would post in the bigger topic, but this is just one specific question. Kind of odd Half. It is a 1986 P I believe.

The P is kind of worn, but the thing that threw me off is the edge and sound it makes when dropped. It could be counterfit or novelty. The edge is smooth and all silver colored. No brown is showing. I know that the reeds can get worn down from casinos, but it looks as if the coin was dipped because the lines show through in certain spots and it is kind of globy.

Also when dropped it makes an odd noise. I compared it to a 40% silver and no silver half and it sounds different from both. I have no clue what this is made of or if it is just normal. I will try for a picture and to get a weight, but I am not sure when I can do this by.

Thanks for your help. If there are any more details I can give I will.

It sounds like it's just silver plated. The plating can affect the "ring".
