Odd Damaged Rim 1942 Canada Cent Possible Multiple struck?

    Hi Everyone,
    I ran into this 1942 Canadian penny earlier today and it has rim damage I am unable to identify beyond it is obviously damaged and possibly by multiple strikes? Has anyone seen anything like this before? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it is and how it was caused. Many thanks.
