Hello CT! I came across this 1859 Can. One coin. I noticed there seems to be a variety of errors related to coins of the 1850's variety. The most common for this year appears to be associated with 9 in 1859, however I dont think that is the error.. Both the obverse and reverse have some kind of mark/smudging of sorts. The "N" in Cent on the reverse has a really strange...i dont know what to even call it. Can anyone tell me if this appears to be an error coin? Thanks!
It appears like your coin took a good hit on the obverse, enough so to bulge out the reverse. Subsequent circulation left darker toning in that protected area on the obverse and left a lighter area of toning on the raised reverse .
Well you definitely knocked it out of the park. Makes sense, thank you! Now, I wonder if that destroys value ?
PSD normally will not help the value of a coin. Exceptions can be identifiable counterstamps , love tokens , Hobo nickels , other artistic creations.
