Didn't have a coin of Octavian, Ken also sent me this one. Octavian, 31 - 30 BC AE19, Macedonia, Amphipolis Mint, 8.64 grams Obverse: Bare head of Octavian right. Reverse: Artemis Tauopolos riding on bull charging to right, veil blowing out behind. RPC1626 // SNGCop89-91
Nice coin, @Pishpash! Mine, maybe a couple of thousand years ago, was similar as yours: Bronze AE 18, 3.5g, 18.7mm, Amphilpolis mint, obverse [QEOS KAISAR SEBASTOS] (or similar), bare head right; reverse AMFIPOL[ITWN](or similar), Artemis Tauropolis with inflated veil, riding on bull galloping to right.
Very interesting theme on the reverse, and although it's worn, a very distinctive portrait of Octavian, congrats on such an acquisition The closest I can show is an even more worn dupondius : Octavian, Dupondius Minted in Italy 38 BC DIVI F, bare head of Octavian right DIVOS IVLIVS, in a laurel wreath 27.07 gr Ref : HCRI # 309, RCV # 1570 Q
Nice portrait and super fun reverse! I have a Macedonian Augustus...though my reverse isn't so action packed: Edited: Augustus, Macedon. 27 BCE-CE 14. AVG, bare head right / Two priests ploughing right. RPC 1656
Nice provincial coin (which @TIF 's test shows I know zilch about). I have one with Octavian (Augustus) and Julius, kinda..... two pieces of similar coins. The seller's pics - J O
kool koin Pish!..i like that action packed reverse...here's one of Octavian before he became Augustus.. Octavian denarius 44-27 BC
Also my most recent coin from the last FSR sale is the same type. I do believe our versions are different in the placement of the obverse KAIΣAP ΣEBAΣTOY. There are many variations of these. https://www.acsearch.info/search.ht...s=1&thesaurus=1&order=0¤cy=usd&company=
