Today I went to the bank and got three rolls of the new ocean in view nickels. I opened two of them and have left the third one unopened for now. What I was wondering is why some of them have a dot on their nose and some don't. The dot doesn't go in it pops out. The dot is about the size of a needle and it is on the end of his nose. It almost looks like he has a pimple. Sorry I can't get pictures. Thanks

Sounds like it might be a die chip.

I think I've got a picture of it. It is on about 20 of the 60 I have.

Yeah, that's the new "Pimpled Jefferson Variety" nickel - supposedly only found in the West African jungles of Qatar near the Fountain of Youth....

No, but seriously, it's probably just a die chip and wouldn't be worth all that much. Although, you could probably go on Ebay and pass it off as the rare "Pimpled Jefferson" - could wind up making a fortune.....................................

    Just kidding!

It may be funny but.....? Put one on Ebay and then you will see just how many people collect error coins. Look at it this way. You have only a nickel each in those nickels so if you got .25 for them on Ebay thats 5 times what you paid and the "Pimpled Jefferson" may become a legend in its own time. Yes, I do find this quite humorous but still know there are those out there who will JUST HAVE TO HAVE ONE!!!
