And this may have been one of those occasions. There is no indication in either his current listings or the text of his feedback that he has ever sold coins before. >>This<< and >>this<< are two auctions listed by eBay seller rdrileyred, supposedly for separate genuine Meiji 10 (1877) Trade Dollars. The following exchange initiated through the “Ask Seller a Question” function on one of the auctions, clearly demonstrates that both are fake, if in fact there are really two. The photos at both auctions are identical, although neither of the auctions makes a disclaimer that the displayed photo is not the coin in question. Original question asked of rdrileyred by satootoko: Reply received from rdrileyred by satootoko through the eBay My Message function: Reply by satootoko to rdrileyred: rdrileyred's final response: And, he did, before I wasted my time notifying the useless CCW.
Actually the CCW saved my butt one time when I bid on and won a useless fake in my initial crazed ignorance on ebay (was total gullible greenhorn). I was looking up my amazing purchase and how much I was going to profit from buying this great coin off some dip seller that didn't know what they had when I found links to reputable sites that educated me that I had bought a scam coin. However sick to my stomach and out some $50 I discovered ebay pulled the auction as a fraud and I was out of the woods!
