It took me a long time to find my current avatar coin, a tetradrachm of the Parthian king Artabanos IV (c.10-38 AD). The heavily off-center reverse helped keep the price lower (the main draw for me was the unusual facing portrait, so the reverse didn't bother me): And this lifetime portrait denarius of Julius Caesar, struck January-February 44 BC, just a couple of months before his assassination. The significant wear and the banker's mark helped keep the price low, without (in my opinion) taking away too much from the attractiveness:

Our research tells us that the front has a Latin legend that means "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women" and the legend on the back may be German and might mean "Christ receiving his baptism from the leader in the Jordan" Both were coins that I assumed were out of my budget when I saw them but were able to make it work.
