I recently purchase an item from Numismaticbureau on E-bay. I feel like a complete idiot. I purchased the listing because it said it was a collection of Obama pennies that were un-circulated. When I received them I received 5 pennies shoved in pouches with photos of the president. I left really nasty feedback for this seller and contacted E-bay. I was refunded half my purchase price. I spent $3.00 for 5 cents. I believe it is illegal to advertise a collection that is not really a collection; is this true? What can I do? This was not the only item I was ripped off on; there were two others. I left bad feedback on all three items and refused to remove it. I also reported the seller. I did a little research on this seller and found many horrible stories. Why does E-bay allow sellers to rip people off? I will not be doing business with E-bay any longer.:headbang:

I'm curious if the seller had pictures posted. I buy and sell on e-bay and never had a problem. However, before I place a bid on an item, I check out the sellers feedback score and the feedbacks if they don't have a 100% rating. Were you allowed to open a case against the seller or sellers?

I've had bad experiences with these bozos....long and short they are thiefs....I sent objections to their shipping ways and they blocked me from buying, which is a money saver for me. Don't forget they Grade their own coins....no objectivity

sorry about what happened, its happened to me before but if you know where they are and thier name, that sort of info, you could sue them for fraud but really you cant do much about it. Personally i wouldnt do anything you shouldnt have gone off on them though, because if they were really jerks trying to skam people they wouldnt have given you a refund. And you cant sue them if they gave you a refund. You got lucky, i never got a refund.
They were probably just playing around. So as for the other people who lied to you if they gave you a refund leave it be, but if they didnt...well you can take it up with them.
=]-------sorry but it happens to all of us at some point.

I can think of one worse situation. My gf's daughter bid on an autographed album on eBay being sold by Dick Clark's people. She bid without thoroughly reading all the info I guess, and before I knew she was going to. (I would have caught her error) She bid $100 and won, sent them a check. Again, before I had a chance to stop her. They cashed the check, then said shipping will be an additional $350! Again, I would have caught that, but she had failed to read the fine print. It only mentioned "reasonable shipping charges" and when she called them was told it was "White-glove" handling, and had to be paid in full to receive her item. No refund. I would never have bid on that item, period. But, she learned a lesson: Read the fine print! & even better: Know what you are paying (in shipping charges) before bidding! That lesson cost her $100.

I should add that I've been burned on eBay before too, and it also relates to coinlooker14's post. I had bought a box of trading cards from a guy and sent him a money order. The box was well overdue so I contacted him, he said I hadn't paid. I then spent twice the original amount proving I had indeed paid him and he sent the box. But not before giving me horrible feedback. He refused to remove the negative feedback saying I took too long to pay him, which I had already proved to him to be incorrect. So, long story somewhat shorter, I paid twice as much as the item was worth and had that negative feedback haunt me for a year or two ...and I did nothing wrong. Sometimes you simply can't win.

I can't help but ask, but what were you expecting to receive when you bought these "Obama pennies"? Obama isn't on any cents.
