Would you rather own a coin of great rarity that's bent? Or own the same coin that's holed? (The grades being otherwise equal.) You have no other options, that's the game.

    Why?

Make up your own, too :)

it depends on how badly the bend is. This is more of a matter of eye appeal. I would not collect any coin with a hole in it.

Bent because the likelihood of the eye appeal being better intact is greater. Granted it all depends on what the coin actually looks like but one is only bent where the other is actually missing material....so sight unseen of say bent. Does that make sense?

One expensive one. I'm not a hoarder, so quantity isn't a priority.

Yes, it does, and anyway, you could wrap that sucker in a towel and hammer it out straight. :wacky:

This is one that caught my eye it's a shame it wasn't a 77 1876 IHC Holed 1.jpg

Would you rather collect only three-cent silvers, or only three-cent nickels?

Three cent nickel, I love the design. I do wish however it had silver content. But I much love the lady Lib/roman numeral design.

It would depend on how bent or where and how large the hole is. Either way, I would opt for a lower grade example of the same date/mm without problems if it were the same amount of money. A problem coin is very difficult to assign a fair value to and if necessary to sell it at a later date will the person considering buying it feel it has approximately the same value you paid for it?

Would you rather... drop a High Relief St. Gaudens $20 on the sidewalk OR lose $5,000 in Vegas?

No brainer - Vegas. You could have some serious fun losing that $5000. Losing a St. Gaudens? Not so much fun.

Well the holed coin was probably worn around some skank's sweaty neck for 20 years. So I'd probably take the bent coin, place it between two pieces of wood and put them in a vise, increasing the pressure regularly until I had a bent coin and two wooden master dies.

Would you rather... Let your kids play with your coin collection for an entire day OR staple scratch a 1796 Draped Bust Quarter?

That's going to be tough for the collectors of BU moderns. 99% of my collection is ancient, and can be handled directly with no ill affects, so I'll go with the kids.

Would you rather have unlimited free submissions to your favorite TPG, or $10,000 a year extra, to spend on coins that must stay raw?

I only buy slabbed but that's more due to my /limited income, security of it. I actually like the idea of raw coins more. so with an extra 10,000 I could easily buy all raw, I'd just buy from reputable dealers so the security/assurance of what I'm buying will already be handled.
