After an extended stay in Africa, today the tour is heading out to the South Pacific. French Polynesia and its predecessor, French Oceania, represents five island groups in the South Pacific, the best known of which is Tahiti. Coins were first issued in 1949 and 1952 under the French Overseas Territories name. Next they became French Polynesia, with the first coins issued in 1965 and continuing off an on to modern times, with the highest denomination being 100 francs. You can see my coins below, and feel free to add yours. If you missed the earlier entries in the series, they are: Equatorial Africa, Madagascar, French Indochina, West Africa and Togo, Morocco, Tunisia, and other African countries. First up is the French Oceania coins. I have one of each coin made.
I have these French Polynesia Essai Proof's that were picked up a few years ago. Stated mintage: 1700
