Pretty cool. You might be interested to know that virtually everyone with any European ancestry is descended from Charlemagne in some way.
I think the "descended from Charlemagne" is just to point out the probabilities in generations, not as a real thing. Kind of like "Every drink of water you take contains some recycled dinosaur urine."
Sort of. I mean, it's not like they traced every European's family tree for the past 1000 years or anything. The very first work along those lines was mathematical in nature, but there is empirical genetic evidence confirming it. See http://phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2013/05/07/charlemagnes-dna-and-our-universal-royalty/ for a start.
Just a thought: aren't you related to her? so that would also make you ...[insert cogent thought here].
Actually she could be my sister-in-law, but, nah, she used to torment me when we were kids. But to agree with you, if she is correct (which I am sure she is positive of) then, yeah, I am too...let's see where does that put me in succession...hmmmm
Cool. I've tried thinking of gifts but it's too hard. My mom is into roman history so I started her with some of those ancient coins, but she hasn't done much here. I think coin gifts are actually a bad idea for noncollectors; they just don't appreciate it like we do. Some give proof/mint sets but those are just pretty to look at for a second or two then they just stash them away
True, but the fact that you have given someone something that they think is at least a little interesting gives them a different view of coin collecting. Don't expect them to want to go out and take a PCGS grading class immediately.
