Apparently these are more common than I thought? Three on cointalk alone, awesome! How much did you two pay for them? And did you know what it was when you bought it? I paid $25 and bought it unattributed in a lot of 3rd c. barbarous imitations.
Was that $25 for the lot? how big was the lot? I can't say what these would go for. I got mine in a lot of 20 unatributed ancients that a dealer friend sold to me sight unseen (he has no interest in ancients and these came with a large lot he bought) for just $80. There were some really nice coins in the lot, even several silver.
It was $25 a coin, which is more than I usually like to pay. But these were some top-notch imitations. Very stylized designs.
Definitely. EF ones on coinarchives seemed to go for $150 or so. Let me know if your dealer gets anymore of those lots in.
Very interesting historical background. I didn't know the Romans had local allies in their 3 wars against Carthago. Ínteresting.
