I was reading an advertisement in coin World and the dealer described a MS69 Franklin as have come from 'his favorite die, #39' or something like that. Has the information as to what die struck what coin been released? Is this even possible, knowing how the Mint doesn't release such information? any help would be appreciated.
You're likely talking about R&I who sells proofs and appears to have attached numbers to dies. I believe that they are his numbers for the dies, not the mints (i.e. Die #10 according to the dealer may have actually been the 50th die used at the mint or may have been the 2nd).
