Greetings, Just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that I have put up a notgeld search utility and it can be accessed here. http://www.cachecoins.org/notgeldworlddb.html Let me know if it isnt working for you. Now I dont have many listed there right now. I am in the process of plugging in all my personal collection into it and then I will start reaching out to other collectors of notgeld to get images of those coins and note I dont have (yet). I am hoping it will be helpfull to people who are looking for information about a coin they dont know about. If the coin and/or bill has notgeld written on it, they might search and find this page...if they put in the city name or description of the image on the coin then they will be able to find the coin. This does NOT have values... Because I have so little coins in there atm, I can tell you the towns and cities that will bring up results: Aachen Bielefeld Braunschweig Budingen Coblenz Duren Frankenthal Halle Kitzingen Ludenscheid Oberammergau Pirmasens I will be populating this every day and if you collect notgeld and have images and attributions. I might want to hit you up to donate pictures for the search...I will give you credit of course. Thanks
Off to a nice start. If you want to grab the images from my collection later feel free. I keep meaning to get up images of the rest of what I have, but never seem to find the time.
cool, I was going to hit you up once I got my collection all loaded up which should be in about a week. I have the same problem. I have half online ATM and half waiting to be uploaded. I am going to complete my full collection them maybe move on to any you have that I dont. Cities and towns now searchable: Aachen Altona Arnstadt Bielefeld Braunschweig Budingen Coblenz Duren Frankenthal Halle Kitzingen Ludenscheid Oberammergau Pirmasens Saxony Soest Thale-Harz Unna Weilburg Westfalen Worms
Nice project. I only have about 1-dozen Notgeld /Kriegsgeld pieces in my entire collection. If you ever want photos all you have to do is ask. Very best regards, collect89
Let me know if you have them online and where and I can just download them if you have types I need. Let me know how to credit you as well...If you dont have them photographed yet no hurry as I have a long way to go....Thanks
Drusus, Did you check out Don Noris' Notgeld page? He has quite an extensive collection. http://www.worldcoingallery.com/countries/Germany0.html -Daniel
Yes, he only recently put up that page. He went to a coin show just recently and came back with a bunch of those. As a matter of fact, he offered to trade me for my two pieces. I have no idea what they are worth or if they are special or anything - do you? -Daniel
The Karstadt token is interesting, especially now that the Arcandor group, including the Karstadt department stores, is in insolvency. Don't know how much it is worth though. That search engine is cool. First I was about to criticize that it does not find Koblenz, only the older spelling "Coblenz". But then I realized that this old version is what a collector sees on the piece and would then enter. So it makes sense ... Christian
Yeah, I had to give that thought as well, I decided to only put what was on the coin or note...If it used a special character such as an umlaut or diacritic mark then I make that searchable as well as the straight letter. I have posted all of my collection that I currently have online. I am going to photo and post the rest of my collection then move on to collecting photos from others. Thanks for the offers... If you put note or coin in front of a search, example 'coin thale-harz' then you will only get the coins from there 'note thale-harz' will only bring up notes. I also try to make the imagery of the coin or note searchable thus if there is a dog on the coin or bill, you search 'dog' you will find all coins and bill with a dog on it. Its a learning process trying to second guess how people might search... It will probably take the rest of this year to get this populated to where it will be a real helpful tool but I add something most everyday so it will grow through time. BTW, he is lucky to have found so many notgeld at a coin show (if in America)...I almost never find notgeld at the shows that come to Houston...in fact I found a dealer that had a bunch but he had them stashed away behind him, out of sight...I only found out he had them because another dealer told me he thought he had some so I asked. He said he doesn't put them out because nobody ever buys them...I bought half of what he had...the other half of what he had I had already!! So I buy mine piecemeal here and there...but its a great collecting area as most are quite affordable. The two you posted here are worth, if I am not mistaken...probably around 6-10 USD give or take.
Here is a different version on that theme: I think Aachen and Duren are my two favs because of these:
I buy from Vad from time to time as well as a few other ebay sellers like mustanggts281 and Dutchmartin.
