I’m not sure either on which of the two it could be. I assume grease, since Lincoln is relatively sharp.

I thought I recognized it. Nothing I sent you went under a loupe, so I didn’t get that good of a look. Based on the sharpness of WE and Lincoln’s profile, my guess is struck through grease. @Fred Weinberg would you agree?

 

Reminds me of particle board.

 

I would guess it is all PMD. Too many places with same look, like LIBERTY and TRUST as well as the MM.

 

Two questions:
1. Do you know what capped die strikes look like?
2. If you think it’s PMD, what do you think caused it? What happened to the coin?
