Hey everyone again, Here is another one i´m right that it´s parthian but that´s what I know. And prices ( cheap or not ) are welcomed Siggi
Looks like Vologases III, (105-147 ad). Sellwood Type 78, minted in Ecbatana. These frequently come in good shape, so this one is average. I would say in the $50 range most likely. Looks like some pretty toning though.
Artabanus II, 10-38 AD, Sellwood type 63, minted in Ecbatana. These are more rare than Vologases III, and yours is nicely centered. I would say in the $150 range.
Thank you, its getting redicilous not having the books on ancients. I better shop some at saville... thanks again both of you. Now to do some reading
You very well could be right. The "hair squiggles" looks more like Artabanus II. I stand corrected. Sorry Siggy.
If you like Parthian, the only book to get really is second edition Sellwood. He was working on a new edition but sadly he passed away. I hear him and Assar were really shaking up the chronology. You can see how poor I am with Parthian's without Sellwood. I collect Central Asian but have never got much into Parthian's. IDK why, just find them somewhat boring versus Sassanid, Huns, Kushan, etc. Btw thanks again Zach for catching my screwup.
Please do not say your sorry, This is the essance of our hobby Mind you my description of this coin on ebay would have been. Silver coin super old " I think " with man on front that has beard and strange lettering on the back. Made around 980 AD to 1974 The thing is that even though I consider my self a dealer these rearly come up in Iceland so I just have not had to get the information. But lately they have been coming in so I´m bound to go and get some basic information on the anchients. Again thansk for taking the time helping me out and Zachkeaton beer is on me if you ever come to Iceland Siggi
