Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself but, given the accelerating rapprochement with Cuba, what are the potential impacts and opportunities for collectors of heretofore "mothballed" private and government currency holdings? "Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?!"
Those cars in Cuba ar mostly made of home made and jury rigged parts. The bodies, while they look nice, are probably as much as 90% Bondo. Those cars are worthless as collectibles.
Not sure what or whose issues you think might be stored or mothballed? U.S. currency circulated on the black market in Cuba, until some years ago, when Castro put a STOP to it. You might consider the horrific experience (for prior buyers, that is) of the British Armed Forces "Special Vouchers," (probably similar to our own MPC's), found by the carload (15 tons of them) in a warehouse, and auctioned off by the British Government. What were previously rare notes PLUNGED in price to virtually pennies apiece, prices never recovered, and never will. Hope this 1991 article is readable:
Lembeck 13 didn't say anything about cars, he asked about currency...? "What" currency remains a mystery.
