I love Barbers, particularly the quarters and half dollars. I just bought a couple that I really like. I may have paid too much (that seems to be a never ending occurrence), but I loved their color. To me, they're just decent coins that circulated a while before being taken from circulation. If you have Barbers you love, post them here.

    Here's the obverse of the 1915 50c.

Barbers were still found in change regularly when I was young. I am attaching photos of my half dollar collection.

I am not a big Barber coin fan because I never fell in love the design. Of all the Barber coins in my collection, and there aren't that many, this is my favorite. It is a PCGS PR-64.

And this one would be second. It's an NGC PR-64, Cam.

Yea, I really love the quarter. I was at a Baltimore coin show looking to put a 1913 Proof set together. A dealer, who was walking the floor, had offered to Tom Caldwell at Northeast Numismatics and he had had to pass because the guy wanted more than "bid." Tom was kind enough to let me buy it from him.

I really like the proof quarter but not so much the dime. Note that I did say I liked the quarters and half dollars the most. And Barbers were occasionally seen in circulation when I was a kid in the '50s. A trolley driver gave me an 1897-O and a 1904-O quarters he had received as fare. For a quarter each, of course. The coins were in at least XF condition and maybe better. I managed to fritter them away.

Quite a few I got from circulation and trading. We had a very active group of kids my age that got together regularly in swap meets. The focus of our swaps was on equitable trades rather than profit. Some I did get at coin shows, flea markets and such. So, I can't say which I got where as they were acquired over about 75 years.

I’m not a big fan of the design do I really don’t collect them. However, I only need2 more Barber Dimes to fill my album, low grade of course. :)

Just to let you know, one of Friedbergs bought an 1894-S Barber Dime in Good over the counter at Gimbels Department Store in the 1960s. :joyful:

Many years ago, I put together circulated sets of all three denominations lacking only the 1901-S 25c. I passed on at least one 1901-S in AG-G condition priced at $250. In retrospect, that was a dumb move. They were mixed grades. The '96-S 25c would have graded XF-AU except it must have been a parking lot coin. Plus it had been harshly cleaned. I paid $50 for it. I sold the whole lot to David Lawrence Rare Coins back before David was diagnosed with ALS.

That’s great. Not one of the ones I need though. I’m down to 2 of them so hopefully soon. I think I only have a Fine at best. Most all AG, G or VG.

I was being a smart a—, but some people are not aware that the 1894-S dime exists in the lower grades.
