Not a real error coin, but still kinda cool

  1. In my pocket change the other day, i found this strange looking nickel. 1988-P. It looks like someone pressed the edges over the writing. On the back, the top half of "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is in almost a border around the coin, and most of "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is too. Sorry for the pictures being rather blurry; my camera broke, and I had to use my cell phone. My question is, how exactly would damage like this happen? And yes, I know that this isn't some mint error. Thank you in advance for any assistance! :D View attachment 94624 View attachment 94625

looks more like a pocket coin - a coin someone carried around with them for a long time. Tough to see in the pics, but... :)

  4. Thanks! Sorry, it's a 2 MP camera, and it can't zoom that well. I'll try to post better pictures once I get around to getting a new camera battery

That coin has spent some time rolling around in a commercial clothes dryer.

There was a dime posted earlier..... maybe putting together a set of dryer coins would be fun.......or maybe not.....
