Not a coin collector but have a question about a coin.

I have a $20 1905 s liberty gold coin (type 3) and was wanting to know the value of such a coin and also can someone explain what "mintage of proof" means?

anyone thats not a collector thats already figured out the mint mark and the type , and even the coin.,already knows what the price that coin will go for.

 

Not if such things are labeled on the holder before a "newbie" obtains it. May or may not be the case but best to give the benefit of the doubt.
