When I was a kid, my grandfather gave me a $2 bill. What makes this unique is that the serial number is there, but is barely visible. It appears when it was printed the press either ran out of ink or the ink was flawed, causing it to appear really faded, and again, almost invisible. Unless you look really really close, it looks blank. Upon close inspection, it is an extremely (and I mean extremely) faint orange color. So, am I a millionaire? What do you all think it's worth? Thanks in advance. I know this is a coin forum, but I could not find a good forum for this.
The other colors on the bill make me wonder if someone at some time treated this bill, perhaps it was in a dry cleaning or something? There was one fellow who had a bill that was seriously misscut, one of the paper money mavens pointed out the bill was from an uncut sheet, and somebody purposelly cut it way off center, which makes it pmd (ped?)
Hmmmmmm. I never really thought about that. The bill is in decent condition. How can I tell if it has been manipulated or chemically altered? If it is genuine, is it worth a buck or two? Thanks!!!
There were times I would get pretty bored in some of my classes so I would spend time erasing various parts of bills. Just a simple pencil eraser, or better yet an electric eraser, does a surprisingly good job at making portraits, denominations, serial numbers or seals dissappear. I can only imagine the "treasures" that people though they found.
I noticed that you posted two threads for the same bill. Just for future reference, please only post one thread per bill/coin. Thanks
Yeah, I posted here first then I saw the "paper money" forum. I wont be upset if the mods delete the thread in this forum. But, I understand where you are. Oming from. Thanks.
