I have a post in the open forum regarding a Norway 1 Ore 1886.
I'm being told offline by someone that he thinks they were not minted that year.
Can anyone help me by checking a K&M and telling me the years they were minted.
    Thanks in advance.

    1 ore is KM352, minted 1876,1877,1878,1884,1885,1889,1891,1893,1897,1899

It is not recorded in Krause as having been minted during 1886. 1885 is THE key to the series.

Do you have an image of the side with the date?

    Ian,

    Thanks.
I was looking for an 1886 as a birthday gift for a friend from Norway.... he was born in 1986.
I guess I'll have to settle for another year,,, or something else.

Looks like you need another category of gift, unless he's a really, really, really good friend. [IMG]

KM#355, an 8.9606g .900 gold 20 kroner was the only Norwegian coin minted that year, if you believe Krause. AGW of .2593 would have a bullion value of about $125. VF lists at $150, with Unc at $400. Mintage was only 101,000. A nice looking coin, about 23mm, just a skosh smaller than a State Quarter.

What about a Norwegian coin from 1986 then? Apart from circulation pieces from that time, you could get the 5 kroner coin 1986 which commemorates 300 years of the Kongsberg mint. That is a copper-nickel piece, and not expensive at all ...
