Found a N.D. quarter with the D mint mark that doesn't show the regular colors on the rim. It doesn't have the copper showing at all, like the other quarters. Has anyone seen a similar coin? Is this an error coin? If so, how common is it? Any idea as to its value?
Post a pic! There would be 2 things it could be---A: it could be plated. B: it could just be normal, with the copper band not showing. This has happened many times before. Either case, the coin is not worth any more or any less than a normal quarter. Speedy
Thank you very much for the reply. Would plating add to the coin's original weight? I wish I knew how to use pictures. I will start working on that.
Normally it will. It could be that, but it can be a lot of other things too. You can always take it to a local jeweler, and have them weigh it. They normally have pretty accurate scales. Best of luck. :thumb: Phoenix
Thank you, Phoenix 21. I know the weight is exactly the same as the other quarters. Speedy said that it has happpened many times before that a quarter doesn't show the copper band on the rim. This was the first time that I had seen a state quarter like this one.
