Normal wear or something else

I compared this to others of same date and definitely lettering on obverse is larger. Also lots of issues with reverse lettering. Coin is not in that bad a shape, but is this just die erosion, normal wear and tear or something else. Just starting to look at Jefferson nickels so trying to get a feel for the common stuff.

I think im seeing a bunch of strike doubling combined with a die wear. Doesnt look like anything special.

I'd say the coin has seen little to no actual circulation. Like Evan8 says, it's strike doubling combined with die wear. Also, for whatever reason, "P" mint coins (of any denomination) tend to have a lot more smoothness and softness to the devices than "D" mint coins do.

I dunno, but with that grainy texture over the entire coin, even the rims, it looks to me like the coin has been corroded - maybe a ground find, or kids playing around.

Now that has nothing to do with die wear or the letters being larger - that's normal. But the surfaces of the coin, that's not normal.

Thanks for input everyone. I thought it was normal wear but Like you said GDJMSP the weird texture was kind of odd too so I wasn't sure about it.
