non gold double eagle?

    Hi guys

    i found a double eagle coin in the dirt but its in bad shape and its not gold...can anyone tell me what the coin mabe? a coin guy told me to send it in because it may be more rare the the gold 1s because its a pattern.. but i dont know how to send it in... help any1?

    Most patterns are made from the intended metal as to test strike and fill and so forth. Not saying it isn't something worth investigating, however. I'm curious to hear what you find out.

    It's a German "casino chip" that is a copy of the gold double eagle.

    A CIVIL WAR 1850'S $20 DOUBLE EAGLE GAME COUNTER... not a german casino chip??? i still dont know what the coin was intended for

    this might be a good beginning to learning about these. Several terms are used for them. One detailed like this might have been used in a board game of sorts as a marker.
