So, won a coin in the last Nomos auction......Paid for it, and they promptly shipped it.
In tracking the coin, I am told by the tracking website that it is "Customs clearance process underway"....(since last Thursday)
Because I haven't done much importing of coins from the EU, my experience is limited.
How long do you folks find these items sit in customs until, if ever, they are released?

    Thankyou

Most of the time it's 1-2 weeks. During the holidays maybe longer.
My postmaster tells me any requests concerning delays have to be
initiated by the sender. Show us the purchase when you get it.

Hang tight--sometimes it zips right through, sometimes it takes a week or so.

Hi, I’ve got mine on Wednesday, given I asked to ship with Fedex - no issues: took 2 days to get it to the West Coast from Nomos office

It usually takes 2-3 weeks for my Nomos packages to arrive.

Do they charge extra for FedEx? Wasn't aware that was an option! I've gotten spoiled from the same-week delivery from Savoca and Roma.

I think its about 20 Euros more than regular shipping option. I think it is worth it - you ll have your precious in 2-3 days:)

Nomos recently charged me 30 Swiss Francs -- at the time, equaling around $30 US -- to ship me a coin I won via Federal Express. I also saved on the Paypal/credit card fees by paying by Transferwise.

For the love of all that is holy; go with Fed-Ex if it is an option.

I won a large lot from a lesser-known auction house in Germany that ended on Mar. 10th. After taking a week to receive an invoice, and another week for the requisite export papers; the parcel was handed off to the carrier -- DHL 'Express' Paket on Mar. 29th.

Well, 'Express' is a vast understatement. The carrier in reality is merely Deutsche Post.

The parcel sat in limbo for a week in some mail processing center in Rodgau, DE. It then spent another 1-1/2 weeks sitting in Frankfurt waiting for export customs clearance before finally finding itself on a plane to the U.S.; arriving in N.Y. on April 17th.

I got the usual "Processed through the ISC facility/Inbound Into Customs" tracking update, and then....

    Nothing...Another week...Nothing...Another week...Nothing...Another week...Nothing...

Having already been through a similar situation this last summer waiting on a parcel of coins from Germany, I tried to stay calm. That parcel eventually turned up, but this time around; my patience was wearing pretty thin.

Finally, one entire month after entering U.S. customs, I received an update that the item was now "Processed through the Foreign Center facility in New Jersey", and another "Inbound Into Customs" notification.

At least it was a sign of life.

So, as of today(5/24), I received an update that the parcel is at my local post office and "Out For Delivery".

By my count; almost two months has expired from the time of being mailed from Germany to reach my doorstep.

    'Express' my arse!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

If there is any solace OP, your package will show up eventually. Most times in my experience, it has taken no more than a week(or two) to clear customs in NYC. Sometimes, it's same day. For whatever reason; S.F. has usually been faster.

Choosing Fed-Ex (if an option) is an absolute must. They employ customs brokers to expedite clearance; avoiding the cluster-fudge that is the snail-mail process.

Paying an additional $30 (or whatever it is) for what in my case is 4K worth of coins is a drop in the bucket for its provision of a little more peace of mind.

Dhl is a different service than dhl express. Dhl is the German post which translates to USPS in your country. Unless you paid 50$ or more for postal charges, your item was sent with the simple dhl which is a snail. Dhl express is a courier services that delivers in less than 48h worldwide

Yes, in a fit of frustration; a mistake on my part. 'Priority' not 'Express'.

DHL Deutsche Post can take a short walk off of a tall cliff as far as I'm concerned. The Germans may be revered for their feats of engineering, but their postal system is absolute garbage. It took almost 3 weeks from being mailed in Germany to find its way to the U.S. I read somewhere recently that Germany is now going to be sending mail abroad via ocean-freight. The ghost of Kaiser Wilhem lives!

I have ordered a multitude of parcels from all over Europe over the last several months (including during the peak of the C-19 crisis). Some have been sent Fed-Ex, and others using the national post. The only country that I've had repeated problems with is Germany; including the additional prolonged time that it has taken for German parcels to clear U.S. customs.

Every other country; whether it be the U.K.(Royal Mail), Switzerland(Swiss Post), BPost(Belgian Post), Austrian Post etc. etc. etc. have all taken only a few weeks(or less) to find their way to my doorstep.

Apologies for venting in your thread OP. This seemed like a good enough place as any. While it may test one's patience while in 'transit limbo', it deserves reiteration that your parcel will likely eventually arrive.
