Congress did not approve any commemorative coins for 2023.

They will just raise the price of their other offerings to make up for it.

Wait, what? Is this going to be the first year without a standard commemorative issue since 1986 (or whatever it was)?

Its probably good for the series to be honest. The series has basically been a disaster for a number of years now. Only a handful really drew any interest and they seem to just be setting a new record low every year. The mint cant control the topics, but their design selection committees share a major part of the blame for it.

There are two coming and at least two proposed. A National World War II Memorial, Public Law 117-162 and a Harriet Tubman Bicentennial Public Law 117-163. Both enacted by Congress. The two proposed Bills, HR 5232 would be for working dogs of the military and law enforcement and HR 6681 for a centennial of the Lincoln Memorial. Why the U.S. Mint has not released any information or issue dates is anyone's guess.

I have several commemoratives and enjoy having them, but I must admit I don't go too far out of my way to collect them.

Perhaps Congress would do better to ensure that the mint produces decent circulating commemoratives for our 250th anniversary in 2026. Just saying...

I don't support the US Mint with any purchases since a couple of years ago. Too many issues and too expensive.

Maybe we should point out the significance of 2026. Remember the privy marks for the end of World War II? Almost like they recalled why 1945 was significant at the last possible moment.

Looks like those will be 2024 commems.
