It was in a multiple lot, no tags or attributions: 340 g; 17 mm a few letters that I think I can decipher: (......I......ΤƐϹ ΑΠΟ.....) I am guessing it could be one f the following options, but it is really a guess; Augustus & Livia Livia & Julia Livia & Senate someone completely different? Any help is greatly appreciated. I think that it's a Gaius/Lucius Caesars Demophon. I certainly have no expertise in this area, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm just guessing based on similarities with this coin from my collection: MYSIA, Pergamum. Augustus, with Caius and Lucius Caesars. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ (18mm, 12h). Demophon, magistrate. Struck circa AD 4 or later. Bare head of Gaius Caesar right / Bare head of Lucius Caesar right. RPC I 2365; BMC 246. If not that, then my second guess would be Nero/Britannicus like this one... which is not mine: Edit: Now that I have all of the pictures on the same page, I'm actually leaning toward the Nero/Britannicus.
Your second guess seems really more than likely. Thank you so very much @Cherd for this; will explore further the Nero/Britannicus attribution.
You are absolutely right, it is RPC I, 2371 https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/1/2371 So very grateful for your answer! Thanks again @Cherd
Hi all, I'm sorry for the "off-topic"... I recently acquired several Roman Republican coins but I'm desperately looking for help determining their authenticity... There are certain features which clearly raised my suspicions, at least some coins more than others... If not here, would you guys mind to show me the right place to raise this issue?
Hi @Romvlvs, Welcome to CT, a great place to share and learn about coins. This is the right forum, ancient coins, just post a new thread asking for help to identify your coin. Include pictures of the obverse & reverse as well as measurements (weight and diameter).
Hi, I can't create a new thread just yet that's why I just posted an off-topic. Any other suggestion?
oh, i didn't know that. Can you upload the pictures in this thread with the measurements of your coin?
