I have a PCGS certified ATB Yosemite coin with a grade code of 89. I can not find this code in the PCGS grading information with the closest codes being 87 and 90. Could the "89" be a typo error? The item was purchased on e-bay already certified genuine. Any ideas?
Can you show us picture ? I ask because even in their old problem designation codes PCGS does not use 89 for anything. And the only thing that it could maybe be if it was a typo would be 99 - that is for PVC contamination. And they won't even put a coin with PVC on it in a Genuine slab.
Yeah maybe, but it would be the first time I've ever heard of such a mistake. 'Course they say there is a first time for everything. I still wanna see a picture.
I am not sure it is "genuine". How about BU. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-ATB-Si...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-5-OZ-S...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
I located another image reference to the code 89 at the following link http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/MemberImageGallery.aspx?m=14017&Page=2 It must be a term used for BU ATB classified 505102. The PCGS site displays a Registry containing another ATB BU class without grade.
It is probably a code for a bulk submission. Submitters will send in a lot and have them grade anything 69 and above. everything else doesn't get a grade just BU. Probably done for one of the TV home shopping shows.
