I found this coin way back in the 90's and have held onto it since. I did a lot of research trying to figure out if this was a common error or just ware and tear. Maybe someone purposely removed the date, who knows? It's a cool coin to have regardless of how the date went missing. I like to think that it's a copper 1943 S. Or, maybe it's a 1959 D, (mule coin.) (I can dream a little.) lol It sort of keeps me searching. I guess it's my lucky penny.
Are there VDB initials under Lincoln's shoulder? Looks like a later one from the postwar era (late '40s to '50s). Lincoln specialists might be able to recognize certain die characteristics. I am 99.9% certain this is PMD (post-mint damage) and not a true error coin- someone indeed removed the date. But it's neat. I like how the date got so smoothly removed with no apparent trace of tooling. Cool find. Since it's your lucky piece, if you'd like a gold-colored jewelry bezel for it (like one of the ones shown below, but cent-sized), just PM me your shipping info. I'd be happy to send you one. Regards, Robertson "Rob" Shinnick ("LordM")
Huh? Is that spam? I wouldn't even know, since I don't read Vietnamese. What a bizarre post. What it has to do with the dateless Lincoln cent is anyone's guess.
