A co-worker gave me this penny today and asked if I could get some information on it. He's an older guy and has had this penny wrapped in cellophane plastic for the whole time he has owned it. According to him, a long time. The reverse is a typical memorial cent in excellent condition but the obverse is extremely worn, almost smooth. I can only read liberty and In God we trust but cannot see a date. Lincoln's bust is also smooth and basically a silouette. Any ideas? Is it an error coin? I'm technically challenged and don't know how to post a picture but its pretty much how I described. If anybody has any information or opinion, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
It might be a capped die (I think that is what they are called). Other than that I wouldn't know. Speedy
