Got 5 rolls of nickels at the bank today, rolls that someone turned in and in one i found 5 2005 which was new looking but one of them was the color of lead,i though it was a blank but when i looked closer i could see it also was a 2005.I droped it on the table to hear the sound and it was dead unlike the sound the other ones made, sounded like lead, was wondering if that was possible. Will post pics. later, thanks

possible its lead and fake, but unlikely. I can't see a lead planchet being in the mint. Check weight.

Many of these are plated and this can have a big impact on their frequency.

its probaly a vending machine slug. or, it could be plated. did you find any pre 1960s in the rolls?
