As I am getting back into the hobby, I found what appears to be a "detached leg" on a bison-reverse recent nickel. First, I was surprised that I actually found the error without knowing that such a prevalent error even existed... (Yay for me) Second, I was wondering if there is a site for nickels like the Coppercoins site for Lincoln pennies that lists all the varieties and errors for nickels?

How sad is it that I was so excited to find a 1941 nickel in the first roll I searched, as I try to get back into coins... I bet that no one here would be excited for such a regular series nickel... But, it feels good to remind me of teh hobby I lost after childhood...

It is still in the workings---and even then I'm not sure how close it will be to Coppercoins ;)
CONECA has a listing of RPM's and DD's on their site for the Jefferson Nickel, but part of it hasn't been updated in sometime.

The detached leg is due to overzealous die abrasion ("die polishing").

Wanna bet, most of the people here still get worked up over finding a wheat cent in change. A coin doesn't have to be valuable to be interesting. Or at least that's what I think. (And I still save pre 60 nickels myself.)
