Hi. I found a nickel that is very dark in color and was hoping to get some opinions about why it is so dark and if it would be considered an error. The coin seems to be in pretty good condition and doesn't seem to have been damaged by chemical. I included some pics and also have a regular color nickel in the pictures to give perspective. Thanks for any help.

This appears to be a "black beauty" nickel. The planchet becomes black as a result of improper annealing. Such errors peaked in the years 1958 - 1962.

Thanks for all the opinions. I did some research on the "Black Beauty" and my nickel does look like the ones I have seen.
