I was going through some of my nickel rolls the other day to try to fill in some of the holes in my folders, but I was also looking for some errors. I found the following nickel. I'm assuming it is supposed to be a 1979, but the '1' is actually a '7' causing the date to be 7979. If you know anything about this please respond. I'm not too knowledgeable about errors so to get some more opinions would be nice. I'm interested in how much it is worth, but really I just want to know if it is an error coin or not because I can't find anything through google.

It's hard to tell from the picture since it is kind of blurry close up(perhaps you could take it out of the flip and take a picture). It looks kind of like either a die chip or damage.

Looks like it took a hit somewhere down the line..post mint damage but a closer picture would be better.

If it is raised, it could be a die gouge. A better close-up would be helpful.

Wow thank you for the quick responses. It seems raised to me. Hopefully these pictures are better.

Coin is most likely altered unless you want to risk 15 for a grading
