    American Nickel 1992 : Normal ?

    Hi,

I found this coin and i don't know if it is normal. There are a double line under and upper Monticello. Letters seems to be bigger than normal (evident for S of Cents). Maybe it's normal... i don't know.

What do you think about this coins?

    Thanks.

I just found an identical 1992 P coin and it is different. Letters are more fine on a normal coin. There are no line under and upper Montecello.

    Thanks Rockdude.

The coin at the top of the thread exhibits all the effects of die deterioration. One of the dead giveaways is what we call and "orange peel" effect on the surface of the struck coin. Look at the area under E PLURIBUS.

This is incredibly common and is a worthless form of doubling.

    Thanks,
    Bill
