This is caused from a loose die, quality control, where are you !!!! Now it tighten, all is well again !!!!!
Is "triple doubling" even possible? Wouldn't it be called tripling? Triple double could mean 6 strikes, no? haha
Well they do have a triple double ............................................................................ ...........................................................................................................................In basketball . lol
I'm not trying to offend those who like this sort of thing, but is there any value to any of these "errors" that take a microscope to see?
No. As a general rule, things that need a microscope are only valuable to VAM collectors. And they are especially not worth a premium when it is Machine Doubling (or Tripling), as is the case on this coin. Note the distinctive flat, shelf-like appearance and lack of split serifs.
this one can be seen by the naked eye I no its just doubling but this one caught my eye it has almost a 3d effect on legends
I understand the difference as I understand the minting process, but how long has it been since there was a hub variety of note? The extra ear of corn? I just don't get it unless it just for the fun of discovery.
Mechanical doubling: While this type of error is often confused with the doubled die error, it is not a rare doubling effect. Mechanical doubling is caused by a loose die that twists slightly at the moment of striking the coinage blank. A flat shelf-like doubling results. A coinage die that has been overused until it is significantly worn will also result in mechanical or machine doubling, likely with weakly defined detail.
The first part of your post is correct. This part however: a coinage die that has been overused until it is significantly worn will result in *die deterioration doubling.* The two are distinct phenomena, and will appear quite differently. They are both equally common and not worth a premium.
Not my cup of tea either and I still open and read the posts. Just another level of nerding out on coins.
no one is making a big issue on this type of coin they are fun to keep when they can be seen with the naked eye,,, other then that its just one cent worth one cent,,cheers
Oh hey, I get it - it's fun! Unlikely I can interest you in my military trade tokens, MPCs, or POGs. Just another aspect of the hobby, I get it.
