1917SLQR.jpg 1917SLQO.jpg From what I see toned SLQ don't get much love, am I wrong on that assumption? Anyone have any high grade SLQ toner pics?

I've seen some high grade toned SLQ's on this site, probably in the post a coin thread of the same date or denomination.

They don't get much love because they are expensive. And toned SLQ's are extremely expensive. I am not telling what I paid for this one.

I have a few but attractively toned SLQs are rare.

That's a stunning SLQ Gypsy. Lehigh's toned SLQs are beautiful as well. Here's one I've got, I collect them in circulated grades, so the toning is not quite as spectacular, but I like the natural toning that happens on SLQs as a result of circulation.

This 17 S Type II has the coveted SH(Smooshed Head) designation. :D

    BTW rld14, that 28 S is sweet!

Just checked mine and they're all blast white (I'm not into toned coins).
I only have 3 for my type set.
Just an impression, but as an issue SLQ's are not high on the popularity list.
I suspect that's mostly because it's not a long set but there are 6 coins that exceed $500 each if you go with XF.
(I looked at XF because that's a happy medium of price and detail.)
Of course the monster is the 1916.
And I not including the overdate.

They are a challenging series to put together, no doubt about it. I'm still trying to complete my set in VF-XF. Even in those grades, you have to be patient for the right coin to come along. But therein lies the fun!

    Stunning coins all.

I think SLQs are one of the most underrated series in coin collecting. It's always been one of my favorites. Such a short series too.

Here is an SLQ that is very difficult to do justice with a photograph. Beautiful streaky pastel toning with glowing luster.

Nice coins all! I have several circ rainbow toners in my set. There is still remaining cartwheel luster on the toned areas, even though they both have extensive circulation.
