i haven,t been a member as long as most of you have, but you guys have been superrr nice to me, i check this forum out 3 or 4 times a day and post pictures of my carvings here...i also check out the u.s. coin forum out daily and today a former member of this forum said we were jerks here...i disagree with that person, you are a great bunch of people...
Boy thats really good news as I have been called much worse than a jerk! Guess I am moving BACK up the ladder? One must understand, regardless of which forum you choose to participate in, that we ALL have different opinions (some strongly) and we all collect different series of coins. Would be a real boring world if we all were just a like now wouldn't it?
Thanks Bill - glad ya feel that way But as busy as this place stays, I kinda gotta feeling there are a few others who feel the same way you do
Of course. I agree. Try their World & Ancient section - a great place to get away from the flame wars on their US section.
"Let him without sin cast the first stone". Everyone is a jerk sometime or another as they go thru life. No reason to cry on another forum. Even if one feels they were slighted with posted type. Did I tell you that my favorite color was blue?
Never really bothers me when people say I'm a jerk. I chalk it up as a sign of Coin Talk's success. I knew for a long time that it was impossible task to try to please everyone.
This is one of the best sites for tolerance of different viewpoints. It's always a little difficult to come to a new place and sometimes people will throw in the towel too quickly.
Take my word for it...you don't....it starts war over there at times...that is why I'm not a member of it... Speedy
Seems the bad-mouthing is being done by a few past and recent youngsters that got mad when their hands were slapped and went running for a shoulder to cry on. Funny thing was they included links to here and when the CU members read them, they warned the accusers that they better not repeat their posting methods on the CU forum or else. I think they called what they were doing forum "spamming" and "flooding". Saw some names had been changed but it wasn't too hard to figure who it was by the content of the posts.
I took Conflict Resolution in high school for two years so I have official conflict solving experience. Maybe I can help straighten things out. Is it "Collectors Universe" forum? I wont check it out until you guys confirm on here.
I don't think it's worth investigating. We all have choices, Coin Talk is one, Collector's Universe forum is another, and so on. If someone doesn't feel welcome here, perhaps they'll feel welcome in another forum, to me it's about personal preference. Each community has its own character, some personalities wouldn't fit in at one place but might fit in very well in another. That's why we have choices. For example, Collector's Universe is (in my opinion) a more rowdy forum than Coin Talk. Someone who likes things a bit on the rowdy side, might prefer being over at CU. No conflict, just personal choice.
I dont know I frequent a few forums and I have no trouble adapting to the atmosphere of any of them !! I can learn from just about any source as long as there is something in the content to be learned !! Rick
Personally, I think the people here are the greatest anywhere. How else can you explain the fact that they put up with me?
