I have a FBL PCGS MS-64. What a price jump for a point higher. I couldn't afford a MS-65 set so I'm putting together a set of PCGS FBL MS-64's. That I can afford. Only 7 left to go.

If you have a 53 S FBL, then consider yourself blessed! Aren't there only like 32 known?

Not sure about the mintage but that year was a weak strike all the way around.

Yeah I meant 32 known to have FBL.

I think it's 42 across the board. Very low and pricy.

I did take it you meant FBL.

All because of the holder. The coin would not be able to stand on its own without it.

PCGS has 45 out of 12k graded and NGC has 14 out of 5700 graded. I assume theres some cross over there and some upgrade attemps with the big price jump from 65 to 66 and half the PCGS population being in 65.

Only 21 K ???? That is a lot of money to hunk up, especially for a franklin half dollar.

I think the record for a FBL with this date is a MS-66 around 65-70k. A '53-s with FBL is one tough coin to find. Who knows, maybe it will break the 100k mark if one toned just right. lol

Good memory. It was $69k a PCGS MS 66 in January 2001

I love the Franklins. Don't know why but I love them especially in a high grade.

That 1958 Franklin overgraded 67+ FBL had the right color and broke 100k... :p

Reading comprehension 101, he clearly said for that date as an FBL. PCGS and CAC both agreed on the franklin grade, thank you though for your “expert” analysis from a photo
