I just sent in 5 morgan dollars to NGC the other day and I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me from experience how long it will be before I get them back. BTW I used the NGC EBay site to submit them via the Economy tier. Thanks!
Hi DJ- NGC site says 31 working days for Economy so guessing close to a month and a half from when they received it when you will get them back. I have done a few modern submissions and they are running 17 business days.
I sent in some on the Modern Submission and it took less than a month and the one submission I sent thought my dealer on Economy it took right at a month IIRC. Speedy
I just got them back yesterday. See photos below... I knew I was treading on thin ice when I sent the 1890-S in, but I had to make sure. It makes me mad that someone would ruin this coin by cleaning it. If it hadn't been cleaned, I'm positive that it would have gotten at least a MS66, maybe higher. Unfortunately it is completely lusterless now. Anyways, the only one I'm really satisfied with is the 1880-S MS65 PL, though I measured the mirrors and was pretty sure they were 6+ inches deep. The other 1880-S has less marks than the PL, I am not pleased with the MS64 grade. I wondered if they'd give the 1880-O a MS62, but I was betting on 63. I was really surprised the the 64 for the 83-O. I thought it would grade higher. But oh well. Obviously they're better at this than me.
Sweet... I'm actually thinking about sending in about 10 Raw Morgans and a few others to NGC... Whats the difference between sending them in thought the NGC/Ebay site and the regular way??? Also, How did you package them? What did you put each coin in? 2x2s, Generic Slabs, Airtites???? Right now, I have all my raw ones in Generic Slabs that I bought from JPs Coins and labeled them with the year and Mint made and they are in a NGC slab box... I was thinking about just sending them in in that... I'm not really worried if I don't get the slabs or the box back... As soon as I can get the cash together I'm planning on sending them in...
NGC says to send them in flips like the one that the 1890-S is in. You won't get them back unless the coins get body bagged (like the 1890-S). If you don't use the NGC/EBay site you have to pay for a membership first ($100). Here's the link if you don't have it already: http://www.ngccoin.com/ebay_ngcvalue.cfm Good luck!
Sweet!!!! Thanks for the info and the link.... When I go to that page, it wants an Ebay Account Number... It says Ebay Account Number EB[________________] Is that actually a acount number with digits or would that be my ebay username??? I logged into my ebay account and unless I don't know where to look I don't see an ""Account #""... Also, on the Tiers I want/should pick... On all my Morgans I guess I should pick the Economy Tier (I'm pretty sure non will be valued at more than 300.00) On all my Modern US coins, (1955 to Present) I should pick the Modern Tier I just want to make sure to pick the right thing... If anyone was going to pick the wrong thing, it'd be me... Thanks
I don't think they really care unless you know for sure---I sent in a coin that I thought was a $50 at best--and it came back with the FBL grade...I hadn't thought about that....needless to say that made the value of the coin around $6-$700 and they didn't charge me any extra! Speedy
I'm planning on selling 3 of them soon. If anyone's interested please stay up to date on the Auction Listings forum.
