i have a 1965 nickel I’ve been thinking about sending off to see if I could get lucky and land a 5 fs designation. But I was also wondering about the surfaces on it because of how reflective it is.. I may be completely off about what’s considered PL or not, so any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 49CCFC03-0677-4936-8FB2-158F3CC8C26E.png FF4D0414-CEB3-4FE7-8C48-D1A0D89DAEF8.jpeg AC41CB3E-F1BF-4D4B-979F-0263E88ADC89.png 1051E917-7F93-44B3-AC1E-030AA9D238BC.jpeg 8571BD0B-1AF8-4596-BAB4-6E02C3337410.png 505EF324-83D3-4A60-AAF0-527B87D91919.jpeg 3930F87B-3170-40DE-98A2-3625088A6237.png

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Yes, NGC is the only company that designates PL for all series (both US and Foreign). PCGS will only designate it on Morgans, and a very select few other issues (mostly the modern bullion).

However, your coin is almost certainly not PL. I strongly suspect that you have an SMS coin instead.

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

I agree with physics on the SMS over PL on that coin. Too many dings and orange peel to have it graded in any case. What type of holder is that in by the way, is there a set along with that?
