I got back several coins from NGC today and barely caught this error. I love it but should I resubmit for correction? I’m thinking I may just keep it if there is a market for such things. Don’t want to sell now but will have to one day I know. 364C65B7-4A84-4361-9AD1-EC48BA0C165F.jpeg

I don't know man, if I was a buyer I would be suspect of the whole thing seeing as the coin is completely wrong.

If I paid that much to get the darn thing slabbed I would want it to be correct.

Send it back. IMO slab errors are not a thing. It's just a mistake, and it also throws off their registry. NGC will cover all expenses.

I like it too Paddy the more I look at it. I’ve never had one like this and I’m sure I’ll never get one again from ngc. I just want more professional advice. I do collect errors also. Didn’t cost that much anyway to get graded, who knows another eccentric like me may be out there somewhere. I’ll decide for sure if I get anymore input.
Thank you all for your answers.

I had an 1891-CC $10 gold they labeled as a $20. Would have been a cheap addition for a CC $20 gold Registry.

Totally agree. It's a cool little novelty.

I'd keep it. All that's wrong is the type. The grade, date and mint are right. I think it's pretty cool. Btw, it's not a VDB, is it?

Mechanical errors like this are rare but not valuable. Doesn't stop people from trying to sell them for moon money.

Had a fun cherry-pick buying an 1851O Trime in VF marked 1851 from a dealer (so maybe I 'scored' $20 in value) while discussing the loon across the aisle who had a 1950 Franklin in low MS (63?) marked 1951 which he wanted $500 for.

As collectors, I assume we like to show off our collection to others, right? Some of our pieces are more interesting than others, and we love things that are different, but especially love items we obtain which not many others have.

Since this is a rare piece but not really a super rare "Registry Set" or pedigree coin, I think the mislabeled slab makes it incredibly more cool. Personally, I would leave it alone.

I'm on the fence. But really how bad is their communication/ quality control?
Sure it's possible there was a 1909-S Indian HC and the labels got switched,
(although I think that's unlikely). But even if they printed up the wrong sticker and slapped it on there, isn't there even one monkey who can read at that company, who looks at it before it is packaged and shipped? It's a very poor mistake for a company that should be MUCH more detailed than this.

Sell it to PCGS, I'll bet they'll love that one.

We're the labels switched or was the coin switched? Think about it. It could happen.

The only way it could be cooler, if it was an error coin. Like an off center or broadstruck.
Error coin with an error label. That would be classic. Anyway im not sure i would pay a premium for your coin but, i would be totally stoked if i submitted it and it came back that way. Cool coin!!!!!

    @Idries Pappas
I wonder if the price information is correct?
Would that be for the IHC or Lincoln?
