No, I don't work for them. Just thought I'd post it here in case anyone has any ugly coins that need to be saved ;-)

"Professional conservation from Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) removes harmful surface contaminants, protects a coin’s surfaces, and can often substantially improve a coin’s eye appeal."

"Several changes to our services and fees for 2017 have made submitting to NCS easier than ever and provide new opportunities for savings:"

NCS Standard Conservation — fee lowered to 4% Fair Market Value ($25 minimum fee).

NCS Gold + NGC Grading — fee of $50 includes both NCS conservation and NGC grading. This new tier accepts all uncertified gold coins, both vintage and modern, except coins requiring an NGC Oversize Holder. Maximum value $3,000 per coin.

NCS Modern + NGC Grading — fee of $28 includes both NCS conservation and NGC grading. This new tier replaces the former “Modern” and “Modern Value” tiers, and accepts all uncertified coins, 1955–present, except coins requiring an NGC Oversize Holder. Maximum value $2,000 per coin.

"Elite NGC Members receive a 10% discount on all NCS conservation tiers."

I think we all got this. Most of the services offer this now, but it doesn't always save the coin, and rarely will it ever improve the grade.

For as long as I can remember, NCS has never claimed that conservation might improve the grade. They have said that it might improve the eye appeal. There's a big difference.

The only thing that some people should be aware of is that sometimes conservation may reveal hidden problems that might prevent a coin from getting a straight grade.
